Pracuje na Wydziale Nauk o Ziemi i Gospodarki Przestrzennej Uniwersytetu Mikołaja Kopernika, jest także członkinią Uniwersyteckiego Centrum Doskonałości IMSErt: Interacting Minds, Societies, Environments, w zespole PSE: People, Space, and Environment.
Badania naukowe koncentrują się wokół: społeczno-przestrzennych aspektów transformacji energetycznej, odnawialnych źródeł energii, zrównoważonym rozwoju, koncepcjach smart i resilience, rozwoju lokalnym, zakorzenieniu, miejskiej mobilności, adaptacji do zmiany klimatu, polityki energetycznej, świadomości ekologicznej i sprawiedliwej transformacji. Jest autorką i współautorką ponad 100 prac naukowych: monografii i artykułów, w tym opublikowanych w renomowanych czasopismach naukowych: Renewable and Sustainable Energy Reviews, Energy Research & Social Sciences, Land Use Policy, The Anthropocene Review i in.
Realizuje liczne projekty badawcze, głównie w zespołach międzynarodowych, których jest liderką i inicjatorką. Współpracuje z naukowcami z europejskich ośrodków uniwersyteckich, m.in.: Wielkiej Brytanii, Czech, Słowacji, Szwecji, Niderlandów i innych.
Bierze czynny udział w najważniejszych międzynarodowych konferencjach naukowych, m.in.: EU Cohesion Policy Conference , American Association of Geographers Annual Meeting, Royal Geographical Society – Institute of British Geographers Annual International Conference, Regional Studies Association Annual Conference. Jest regularną recenzentką artykułów nadsyłanych do publikacji w czasopismach naukowych, głównie prestiżowych, międzynarodowych. Ma także doświadczenie w dzieleniu się wiedzą – regularnie realizuje warsztaty dla uczniów i nauczycieli różnych typów szkół.

Scientific research focuses on socio-spatial aspects of the energy transition, renewables, sustainability, smart and resilience ideas, local development, embeddedness, urban mobility, adaptation to climate change, energy policy, environmental awareness, and just transition. She is the author and co-author of over 100 scientific publications: monographs, and articles, including those published in renowned scientific journals: Renewable and Sustainable Energy Reviews, Energy Research & Social Sciences, Land Use Policy, The Anthropocene Review, and others.
She carries out numerous research projects, mainly in international teams, of which she is the leader and initiator – she cooperates with scientists from European university centers, including the United Kingdom, Czech Republic, Slovakia, Sweden, and the Netherlands.
She actively participates in crucial international scientific conferences, including the EU Cohesion Policy Conference, the American Association of Geographers Annual Meeting, the Royal Geographical Society – Institute of British Geographers Annual International Conference, Regional Studies Association Annual Conference. She regularly reviews articles submitted to scientific journals, mainly prestigious, international ones. She also has experience sharing knowledge – she regularly conducts workshops for students and teachers of various types of schools.
