Kjartan Már Ómarsson
Kjartan Már Ómarsson, with a BA and MA in comparative literary theory and film studies from the University of Iceland, is nearing the completion of his Ph.D. focusing on the melodramatic narrative techniques in the works of Icelandic filmmaker Baltasar Kormákur. Since 2014, he has taught literature, film, and cultural studies at the University of Iceland. His research interests include literature, film, music, the avant-garde, architecture, urban planning, and cultureal studies and he‘s published regularly on these matters in peer-reviewed academic journals.
In 2020, Ómarsson took on the role of Projects Manager for the Reykjavík UNESCO City of Literature, overseeing both local and international literary projects, including an international residency program and the management of Gröndal’s literary house. He also serves as the primary UNESCO contact for Reykjavík’s Literary City.
