
Enrico Bassi
Enrico Bassi is a designer, maker, professor, and innovation consultant. He holds a degree in Product Design and Design & Engineering from Politecnico di Milano, graduating with top marks. Enrico has worked as an innovation designer in Milan, Italy, and Miami, Florida, helping companies integrate new technologies into their products.
He managed Italy’s first Fab Lab, the digital fabrication labs originally founded at MIT to enable people to bring their ideas to life. Later, he coordinated FabLab Torino, supported by Officine Arduino, and then Opendot, which was co-founded by the interaction design studio dotdotdot.it.
In 2015, he completed the FabAcademy program, an international training led by MIT Professor Neil Gershenfeld, becoming an instructor the following year and later global evaluator.
Enrico’s work has focused on grassroots innovation, emphasizing diversity, inclusion, and sustainability by co-designing solutions with communities, particularly for people with disabilities. He co-founded Fabcare, an international network supporting innovation labs worldwide in co-creating solutions with people with special needs.
He also contributed to a research project at ENEA, Italy’s second-largest research center, on 3D printing with recycled materials. Enrico has taught as a professor and lecturer at universities in Italy, Germany, Poland, and Switzerland and has participated in projects and events in over 30 countries, from the USA to Bhutan, from Djibouti to Spain.
